Pair Silver Tone & Cerise Faux Pearl Side Combs

Ref: VT-0908-006

This attractive pair of silver tone hair combs is made in the distinctive neo Baroque design and is typical of the late 1950s or early 1960s when more elaborate styles took over from the severe geometry of Art Deco.

The design is based upon a clear Lucite comb mount with and elaborate heading which suggests curled up leaves and fruits. The leaves are nicely modelled and the fruits are made from deep cerise purple faux pearls.

The final illustration is taken from a contemporary ad in American Vogue and shows a model with a hair accessory in the elaborate Baroque style.

Size: 2 x 3 ins   (approx 5 x 7.5 cms)

Pair Bow Design Clear Rhinestone Barrettes

Ref: VT-0902-009

The rhinestone jewellery of the 1950s and early 1960s was often almost as glitzy and larger than life as that of the 1980s. This handsome pair of bow design rhinestone barrettes is certainly on style, and could be worn today with considerable effect for a glamorous occasion.

The motif features large prong set clear rhinestones in both spherical and marquise shapes and the mounting is silver tone metal. This combination of different shapes and types of rhinestones is one of the hallmarks of quality jewellery of this era.

Size: 1¼ x 2 ins (approx 3.5 x 5 cms)
