Pair Miriam Haskell Signed Side Combs

Ref: SD-0608-003

These pretty side combs are signed by Miriam Haskell, one of the most celebrated names in 20th century jewellery. The combs show an attractive bow motif in electro plated antique gold tone finish. The back of the heading has the classic gold signature cartouche but lacks the flower shaped studs which are typical of Haskell combs. It is back stamped FRANCE.

Haskell jewellery is known for the variety and quality of its designs. From the 1950s the designs became more vibrant, colourful, and feminine, under the new Baroque influence. These combs probably date from the mid 20th century.

Size: 3 x 2 ½ ins (approx 6 x 7.5 cms)

Francois Huchard AB Rhinestone Hair Comb

Ref: SD-0908-024

This pretty little comb is signed by Francois Huchard, a contemporary of Auguste Bonaz who set up business in Oyannax in 1923. He created hair combs and barrettes of equivalent quality for the first 4 decades of the 20th century.

This faux tortoiseshell comb has a design of two stars which are set with AB rhinestones having small gilt metal dots placed between. This was a favourite treatment of the mid 20th century and as AB rhinestones were not used before this the piece probably dates from the 1960s.

Size: 2 x 2 ins (approx 5 x5 cms)

£20.00
