Baroque Style Retro Hair Comb

A lovely and unusual gilt metal mantilla style vintage comb made in the Czech Republic, formerly Czechoslovakia, probably mid 20th century.

This beautiful comb is made in an elaborate neo-Baroque style metal filigree.  It has an attractive curved border with a graduated row of upstanding spherical faux pearls which surmount a heading with an elaborate pattern like gold lace.

Glitzy Dynasty style hair accessories in the 1980s were distinguished by their large size and lavish appearance.

Two Retro Silvertone Side Combs

Ref: RT-0208-002

Two pretty silver tone side combs from the late 1970s or 1980s. Both are made in similar fashion with an elaborate silver tone heading secured to a comb mount of faux tortoise celluloid with split prongs.

The first comb is in the lavish neo-Baroque style which was revived in the 1980s through the popularity of the Dynasty series. Baroque is a lavish and elaborate style involving complex decoration featuring scrollwork often combined with fruit and flower motifs.

The second comb is influenced by the Modernist style where the concentration is upon the materials themselves rather than the addition of decoration. A plain leaf like motif is contrasted with one in hammered metal.

Two Glitzy Dynasty Style Barrettes

These large barrettes are both similarly made in the lavish neo-Baroque style which was revived in the 1980s through the popularity of the Dynasty series.

Baroque is a lavish and elaborate style involving complex decoration featuring scrollwork often combined with fruit and flower motifs. Both take the form of a bow motif with complex surface decoration, one featuring faux pearls and the other large acrylic faux rubies.

They are fitted with a modern spring clip fastening and back stamped Korea. The 1980s was the period of BIG HAIR and large accessories like this were extremely popular.

Retro Rhinestone Tiara

This wonderful retro tiara is of very high quality and was made in the Czech Republic, formerly Czechoslovakia, probably during the late 1970s or 1980s.

It has a very lavish Dynasty look which Joan Collins (aka Alexis Colby Carrington) would not be ashamed to wear. Is has a solid base of bronzed metal, not light and flimsy like some tiaras. 

The beautiful arcaded design is a classic one with very bright sparkling prong set rhinestones. This would be ideal for a bride who likes something different, as well as for a prom or pageant.

Baroque Style Retro Hair Comb

A lovely and unusual gilt metal vintage comb made in the Czech Republic, formerly Czechoslovakia, probably mid 1980s. This beautiful comb is made in an elaborate neo-Baroque style metal filigree. 

It has an attractive curved border with a graduated row of upstanding arches which surmount a heading with an elaborate pattern like gold lace. A row of faceted crystals tops the heading and more crystal drops are hung in the arches.

Glitzy Dynasty style hair accessories in the 1980s were distinguished by their large size and lavish appearance.
